Timo Boll – The exceptional player of Germany

He is ranked as one of the tactical cleverest player of the world which can also generate the most variable spin : There is talk of the exceptional player of Germany - Table tennis player Timo Boll.

Already with 13 years Timo Boll aroused sensation at the Hessian fourth devision. One year later he plays by TTV Gönnern in the second Bundesliga and all other profis had to resettle to Höchst, so they can daily train with this excellent talent. Timo Boll only lost one of his matches and help provided the TTC Gönnern 1995/96 directly in his first season to the ascent in the Bundesliga. TTC Gönnern stays til season 2008/09 in this league.Thereby was Timo Boll together with Franz Klitzsch the youngest Bundesliga players of the history. 

Coincident discharged his international carrier: At the students european championships 1995 Boll get three times gold at the following year he wins the silver medal at the boys competiton. In the season 1997/98 he saved the title and treasured at the double and team competitions futher medals. At the first iternational cap for the german men national team at the europe league against Poland he posted directly his first win against Lucjan Blszczyk. In the year 1998 he became german single champion for the first time. 

2002 was the year of Timo Boll: As the first german he won the europe top 12 and overtooked Jörg Roßkopf at the world ranking. At the eurpean championships in Zagreb he won gold at single and at double with Zlotan Fejer-Konnerth and with a fantastic performance also the world cup in Jinan - he beat both world champion Wang Liqin and olympic champion Kong Linghui. So the basic module was build: In january 2003 he became for the first and since yet only german player the number one of the world. Also private it came to a landmark in Bolls life: He married in winter 2003 his long-time girlfriend Rodelia.

Sportingly looked it did not looked well by Timo Boll in the year 2003. He suffers inititally on back troubles which did not became better til the olympia preperation - so he was be eliminated in Athens 2004 against Jan-Ove Waldner. At the end of the year his form curve went again to the top and he was subject at the Pro Tour Final only scarce at the semifinals to Ma Lin. The year 2005 should be a dream year for Timo Boll again: He won together with Christian Düß at the world championships wilver and became with Gönnern Champions-League-Winner. Also he won the World Cup again whereby he eliminated all three top players of chinese.

At the end of 2006 he significated his first agreement at Borussia Düsseldorf - this club was not the only one, which would have him as player. But crucial were the good training condition and the possibility to train regulary with his double partner Christian Süß. With the signing of Timo Boll started Borussia Düsseldorf the successfully era of the club history. Directly in his first year at Borussia he won with the team the german cup and the german championship - since that time it came still four german cup victories, five german championship victories, three champions league victories and one EETU-Cup victory thereto.

Our Manager Andreas Preuß raves very intensive about Boll: "Timo is and was the successfully player of all time at our club. I do not know anybody who had won so many matches in this periode - he is basic a bench. In addition to that he is the face of the table tennis sport in germany and we are very glad and proud to have such an world star in our team."

Certainly his international carrier went also at Borussia Düsseldorf along: 2008 he won with the german team olympic silver, 2011 he won his first single medal with bronze at the world championship in Rotterdam and on european tier he dominated above years everything. Within now 16 european championship trophies he is the successfully player at the continental championships in the EC-history.
Only Dimitrij Ovtcharov could overtake him at the world ranking list at the end of 2013. Therefor he had in december 2013 private luck: His wife Rodelia gave birth to a little daughter.

Despite all the successes and recognition was Timo Boll everytime down to earth - he is respectful and friendly towards every person - besides his extraordinary abilities at the table, it is another reason why the fans of Borussia love Boll so much.
